Xanthi, Westfield Sydney
Before our scones birthday date, Linus and I wanted to grab some solid lunch before we stocked up on sugar. We wanted to go somewhere a bit fancier but also try something different for her birthday. Xanthi is definitely a hidden gem located at the top level of Westfield Sydney. As I walked in, I was in awe of the amazing decor and silk draped walls and ceiling.
Barbecued Haloumi served with heirloom tomato, mint and honey pepper figs ($15)
We also ordered another sharing plate; Fried Eggplant, fetta and basil patties crumbed in a black and white sesame crumb coating. Served with lime and paprika creamed ricotta ($14). This was not what we expected when we ordered it. The texture of the 'patties' kind of reminded me of falafel and the strong flavours left us confused about what we were eating.
We wanted to save our stomachs for delicious scones, so we had to decided to share a main dish. We agreed to share the Lamb Skaras (Perama's famous slow braised lamb shoulder marinated in paprika, garlic and olive oil. Barbecued and served with a lemon and olive oil baste with baked lemon oregano potatoes and string beans ($31)). Although it took a while to come out, it was definitely worth the wait. The lamb was so soft and tender and the barbecued edges gave it the perfect finish.
