Chur Burger, Surry Hills

I have finally hopped onto the Chur bandwagon! We visited the famous Chur Burger joint after brunching at Devon Cafe (I know, we're fat). We weren't completely satiated and we knew the burgers at Chur weren't too big, so we thought, 'what the hell, second lunch. YOLO'.

The restaurant itself gave off a very casual modern American diner vibe. We were lucky to come a good time when it wasn't too busy but we still got a sense of the very social atmosphere. Be prepared to dine with strangers at the communal tables when it gets busy.

The three of us decided to all chose an item from the $10 burger menu options and share. It was so hard to pick because they all sounded so appetising. The "Spiced Chickpea Fritter w/ grated betroot and honey labne" was an interesting  flavour combination however the fritter was lacking texture and moisture.

My choice was the "Grilled beef burger w/ cheese, tomato jam, mustard mayo and pickle". You can never go wrong with a classic beef burger. The beef patty was fat and juicy and the chunky tomato jam with the mustard mayo set it apart from the ordinary flavours of a  beef burger.

My favourite would definitely be the "Pulled pork burger w/ Chur bbq sauce, red slaw and fennel mayo". I loved the flavour of the sauce and mayo which complimented the tender succulent pork.

Of course you also have to a have a side of fries with any burger so we ordered Chips w/ chilli salt ($5) to share. I would probably get the sweet potato fries next time though as the chips were nothing special.

Chur Burger has definitely made it onto my list of favourite burger establishments. Everyone should make time to try Chur burger whether for a social gathering  or stop by on a lunch break (they also have a takeaway option for those on the go). I wouldn't say it was value for money as the burgers are on the smaller side but from what I tried, their menu  packs in a variety of different flavours and the soft brioche bun certainly makes a difference as well. There is also a dinner menu available offering larger burgers ($20 served with 1 side) and assorted range of bar type snacks which definitely will have me coming back to try!
